Gamaliel graduated in Medicine from the National University of Singapore in 1995 and specialized in Orthopaedics, completing advanced training in spine surgery at Toronto Western Hospital, University of Toronto. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
He is currently a surgeon in private practice and serves on several committees at Parkway, as well as on the Ministry of Health (MOH) audit. Previously, he was Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NUHS) and is now Director of Ortho Spineworks at Orthopaedic Associates, with practices at Mount Elizabeth Novena, Mount Elizabeth Orchard, and Mount Alvernia Hospital. He has also served as Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
His leadership roles have included Head of Orthopaedics at JurongHealth, Chief Medical Informatics Officer, and Vice Chairman of the Medical Board (Informatics) at NTFGH. In recognition of his contributions, he has received national honors such as the Public Service Administration Medal (Bronze) and long service awards from NUHS and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Clinically, Gamaliel focuses on spine surgery and has published extensively in international journals on cervical myelopathy, minimally invasive techniques, and the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. He has presented at global spine congresses and served as faculty for advanced surgical courses. His research interests include enhanced recovery after surgery and the integration of informatics into clinical practice.
Beyond hospital work, he is active in professional associations such as the Singapore Medical Association, Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association, and Singapore Spine Society. He also contributes to community service as Chairman of aLife, an Institute of Public Character charity, and has served on humanitarian and advisory boards.
