Eugene pursued his studies in Physiotherapy on an overseas scholarship awarded by the Public Service Commission and graduated with honours from the Victoria University of Manchester (United Kingdom) in 1994.
He is a registered physiotherapist with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) and a Life Member of the Singapore Physiotherapy Association. He currently serves as Senior Manager of the Rehabilitation Centre at Mount Alvernia Hospital, having worked in both public and private hospitals for the past 32 years. In 2012, he received the Gold Award at the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards, which honours outstanding healthcare professionals who deliver quality care and an excellent patient experience.
In the early years of his career, Eugene specialised in musculoskeletal and sports injuries, treating professional football players from the S-League for more than a decade. In recent years, his clinical practice has focused on managing myofascial pain syndrome in individuals suffering from chronic pain. He has a keen interest in the body–mind connection, particularly how stress and emotions contribute to physiological responses such as increased muscle tension and the persistence of chronic pain. His treatment approach emphasises rebalancing muscle tension to calm both body and mind, thereby fostering positive changes in symptoms.
Eugene is married with six children. He enjoys running, watching football, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
